You’ve heard that statement before, right? Well I think its nonsense. Lots of things are endless: the cycle of seasons, time itself, a circle, our souls, our eternal inheritance, and of course my love for the Power Rangers (It’s Morphin’ time baby!)
But really this common expression (even if its not entirely true) seems an appropriate tagline for this post since Atlantic is currently leaving the island hospitality of Canada’s other-world-province: Newfoundland.

We ate some major seafood, heard some incredibly unique accents, and explored many of the charming and eccentric sights that make up the wonderful province of Newfoundland.
I never did learn who named the province. Some unoriginal guy with a lack of imagination, I guess. ‘New Found Land’? Seriously? That’s what you’re sticking with, huh? If I found a new land I’d call it something awesome like: ‘The Deathstar’ or ‘Hogwarts’ or maybe something ferocious like: ‘Land of the Laser-Lions’. Nobody would trespass on my island. Laser-Lions sound crazy-deadly. Ok, sorry. I’m getting distracted again.
So we came to Newfoundland because some wonderful people/dear friends of the band were getting Married: Tom and Jessica Cann (formerly Whelan) and they asked Us to be the band at the reception. So we did. We were the wedding band, and got to party it up in Newfoundland with some excellent choice friends to celebrate our friends getting married.
We also got to spend some time up in Twillingate playing some music with some other friends up there and hearing stories about the life of fishing. One of the fishermen even fed us a bit of seal.
And now here we are on the Ferry back to the mainland. We nearly missed our boat. Time and schedule confusion had us sweating it pretty good this morning. If we had stopped at Tim Hortons this morning we wouldn’t of made it home till October 20th (2 weeks from today). I guess God wanted to give us an extra reminder/reason to be thankful this morning, because he squeezed us in onto the boat… we were the last vehicle let on, crammed onto the very back after all the semi’s.
So we’re coming back to the New Brunswick/Nova Scotia area for a little downtime to enjoy thanksgiving. And without a doubt, we are thankful. Thankful for good friends and loving families, thankful for a life where we get to travel and have so many amazing experiences, and thankful for people who willingly share life with us (such as yourselves, dear readers) because these people shape us in profound ways that I’m sure we can’t even fully realize.
So thanks for the memories Newfoundland.
Mainlanders, We’re coming back to ya.
Long may your big jib draw…
